Dear Members of the IAUA.
Thank you for this opportunity to serve as your President.
Thanks to the work of Stalwarts such as Saktida, Gopal, Ajay and Drs. Wagle and Lacy among others, the IAUA is now recognized by the AUA and we have developed ties with the USI and IBUS. Those of you that attended the IAUA-CME Program last week realized we benefited from the excellent CME organized by Drs. Gill and Pruthi. The Gala Reception was amazing and thanks to Drs. Mukesh Patel and Chakravarty the entertainment was par excellence.
In spite of our growth and success, we have many challenges for which I will require your assistance and support.
The IAUA has grown with membership from overseas but our numbers locally are stagnant. In this age of Pharmacia support dwindling we have to make changes to the way we do business in order to ensure that the work that our predecessors have started continues unimpeded.
Thoughts that I would like to share with you include:
- Growth initiatives by inviting non-members to join and participate. This should be started at the resident level and I will work with Dr. Anurag Das and his team to invite residents to participate.
- The CME Program may require some adjustment in its length, as the afternoon sessions have been traditionally very poorly attended and it is unfortunate that the teams from India and IBUS had very poor attendance.
-We will have to think "outside the box" in order to continue our economic survival with a combination of cost cutting and fund raising efforts.
- The Website will be developed and will contain information that can be accessed by members to obtain CME Credits etc. We are working hard to accomplish this in a timely fashion.
- I will look to my predecessors for advice during my tenure and I wish to have a system of open communication between the executive committees with regular telephone conferences and Webinars.
Let's work together and continue the great success that has been accomplished so far.
